Innovation, disruption, and transversality to change the rules of Spain’s legal sector

---

With more than twenty-five years of experience in the legal sector, creating and transforming law firms, I sincerely believe that lawyers can add value and make a better world, fairer. We can change the industry’s rules and bring the most qualified defense closer to groups affected by abusive behavior and bad practices

Under this premise, I decided to set up ESKARIAM in 2018, a legal services company specializing in class actions with the mission of bringing to Spain this specialization already present for years in other countries in Europe, Australia, and the United States.

We started by acquiring from a local law firm a portfolio of litigation of those affected by deposits. After this successful deal and the great results achieved for the claimants, the private equity investment firm Moira Capital Partners entered our shareholding providing ESKARIAM with funds to undertake our business plan in the medium and long term.

Because of this business plan, we decided to operate in the “Competition” field, in which our leadership in the macro cause of the milk cartel stands out. We are currently defending more than 2,000 farmers from illegal practices carried out by the dairy industry. Afterwards we have opened our range of services to other areas such as medical negligence or health, timeshare or timesharing contracts, financial exchanges or swaps, and patrimonial responsibility of the Public Administration in Spain, but always under the umbrella of lawsuits that affect a wide range of persons or companies.

Thus, at ESKARIAM we were born with the purpose of transforming the legal sector and offer a different way of doing law. To achieve this, we are working in a coordinated way to develop two complementary work ecosystems, avoiding the classic pyramidal shape, and relying on cutting-edge technology.

This new way of offering legal services requires a transversal management model in which management areas such as marketing, finance, processes, or IT are interrelated with business areas like housing, competition, banking, medical negligence... Therefore, everything flows to the production area in the most efficient way.

In this sense, the process standardization leveraged on useful technology allows us to deal with large volumes of clients in an optimal and efficient way, with the most specialized human resources and maintaining the highest level of legal quality.

In ESKARIAM everything is innovative, a factor that stands out in a sector, the legal, in which the business area in the hands of the partners prevails over the management area, underused or non-existent at all. In the current society, increasingly digital, it is necessary for the legal market to adapt, prepare and understand that the application of technology in the business is an ally that will help relationships with the client, improve processes, be more efficient, productive, reliable and, of course, profitable.

Our business model is based on a meticulous analysis of our multi-sector product portfolio and on always positioning ourselves on the side of the plaintiff, offering a top-class service without initial cost and with total risk coverage −charging the fees only if the lawsuit is won−.

Another of the differentiating factors of our unique business proposition is the commitment to creating synergies with the leading law firms and litigation funds in international markets related to ours. Our collaboration with Hausfeld, a leading litigation firm with offices in Berlin, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Paris, London, Stockholm, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and San Francisco stands out, among others.

In conclusion, at ESKARIAM we bet on transformation to make legal services more efficient, agile, and simpler, and to be able to bring them closer to groups of collectives. We work to make the world a fairer place.
