Arch.law breaks into Australia by acquiring Nexus Law Group

Arch.law, a law firm established earlier this year in Manchester (UK), has just established itself as a leading player in the Australian market following the acquisition of Australia's Nexus Law Group.

The legal project founded by former DWF Group CEO Andrew Leaitherland now employs 4,300 professionals in 33 offices around the world.

Nexus has offices across Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Newcastle). Founded in 2014 by Marcus McCarthy, this project has the collaboration of more than 50 lawyers and advisors in Australia and the United Kingdom.

The British firm reports that this acquisition is being self-financed through the purchase of shares.

"The acquisition of Nexus Law Group enables arch.law to embark on building an international and scalable platform enabling our clients to benefit from a high-quality team of legal advisors combined with leading edge technology," said Leaitherland, while considering arch.law's entry into the Australian market to be beneficial:

"There are many positive synergies and opportunities within the Australian market to drive the digital law firm model and we are looking forward to working with the highly skilled team at Nexus to deliver legal solutions differently to our clients."

For his part, McCarthy has welcomed the acquisition:

"I could not be more pleased with this development, not only for our lawyers but for our clients who will benefit from the increased depth of service arch.law can provide."

Innovative and disruptive firm

The UK firm brings together technology and legal needs, and has a disruptive character within the legal sector.

Recently, arch.law founded arch.fleet, a tool that brings together the support of legal, safety and regulatory experts with the use of new technologies to enable fleet operators to take a proactive approach to identifying and minimising the risks of road traffic accidents.

This project has been developed by Charlotte Le Maire, a recognised leader in the field of fleet risk who was formerly Head of Motor Criminal Defence at DAC Beachcroft.
