Mentoring programmes in law firms - Discover Jackson Lewis' Mentoring System
---
Jackson Lewis launched a few weeks ago a mentoring programme that will be available to all lawyers with the rank of associate at the firm
RISE Mentoring System is projected as an innovative programme within the legal sector and has four sections for the metoring and professional development of the US firm's lawyers:
- RISE Recruit: tailored to paralegals, it focuses on recruitment and hiring.
- RISE Integrate: tailored to new associates at the firm, focusing on orientation, integration and engagement
- RISE Succeed: tailored to the career goals of second to fifth year associates, focusing on the development of core competencies for professional development and engagement.
- RISE Excel: designed for associates in their sixth year of practice, it focuses on the path to becoming a director of the firm.
"Each stage of an associate's career offers different opportunities and challenges, so we have expanded our existing programme to a tiered-based system that creates opportunities to identify specific goals and tailor the mentoring relationship to meet those goals, allowing those goals to change throughout the associate's career," specified Stephanie Lewis, head of the Greenville, US office.
More and more law firms are launching such programmes to develop lawyers' professional skills. At the same time, bar associations are also taking care to ensure mentoring programmes for their associates.
