ECIJA El Salvador strenghts the Department of Technologies incorporating Karla Alas

Through this movement ECIJA El Salvador adds a partner to its team and strengthens a key department for the firm. As a result of this incorporation, ECIJA's office in El Salvador has a team of 5 partners and 9 lawyers, all of whom have the experience and academic skills to ensure that their clients receive services that provide real added value.

ECIJA's new partner, Karla Alas, has more than 24 years of professional experience in the areas of Intellectual Property; Registration Law; Litigation; Civil and Corporate Law; Mediation; Consumer Law; and Customs procedures. She also provides legal support in conciliation and mediation processes. And for the last 5 years has been dedicated and specialized in the practice of digital law.

Currently she is a professor at ISEADE-FEPADE, in the Postgraduate course of Law and New Technologies as well as in courses on Electronic Commerce, Teleworking and Personal Data Protection. She is part of Legal Hackers, a global movement of lawyers, politicians, designers, technologists and academics who explore and develop creative solutions to some of the most pressing problems at the intersection of law and technology. She is a lecturer on topics that deal with digital law, specifically on the subject of computer crime and cyber security.

She is an advisor on privacy and personal data protection and is passionate about writing about the subject, as she is the author of the blog "Un punto y Una Arroba-Las Tics y el Derecho", which discusses issues related to Digital Law.

Alfredo Navas Duarte, managing partner of ECIJA's office in El Salvador, has highlighted the importance of this incorporation:

"It is a source of great satisfaction to be integrating to our firm a professional with Karla's profile, the Covid-19 pandemic changed the world and our country was no exception, our firm has been congruent with reality and since two years ago we started to socialize information technology issues with clients, colleagues and other professionals, time has proved us right and digital media has come to stay, Karla's knowledge and experience in specific cases regarding cyber security, data protection, cyber crime among others will further increase the added value we have always sought in the services we provide to our clients".

In its growth approach initiated in mid 2018, ECIJA continues to strengthen its presence in Latin America, consolidating itself as a reference in the region.
