International maritime trade, logistics and port business management specialist

María Otero is a maritime trade, logistics and port business management professional and enthusiast. Throughout her life, she has always been fascinated by vessels and international seaborne commerce, hence she pursued a career in sea (and also air) operations. 

For a legal approach, she studied Law at the University of Oviedo, and became a specialist afterwards by completing her Master’s Degree in Port Business Management and Maritime Law at the University of Deusto. Her final Degree thesis includes a comparative law study regarding maritime hull & machinery insurance, focusing on the London Clauses; whilst her final Master’s thesis conducted a research on the effects of misdeclaration of dangerous goods on maritime charter parties and cargo insurance, from the perspective of the Maersk Honam mishap.

She also spent a year abroad in Warsaw, Poland, where she wrote numerous essays on maritime accidents and pollution. To complete her education, she specialized in Incoterms, Maritime Transport of Dangerous Goods and Maritime Economics.
