After working as a Senior Associate with DLA Piper, David moved in-house to work in the soft commodities and energy sectors. 

David worked in senior legal roles with Engie then led the legal division in Engie’s retail business, including company secretarial, ethics and regulatory compliance functions. These roles involved working on a wide variety of issues across the legal spectrum including major projects, commercial transactions, high value litigation and complex regulatory and compliance issues.

Working on these issues David experienced first-hand the many challenges facing in-house lawyers including the impacts on clients, B2B relationships & customers. Becoming increasingly interested in solving these problems he undertook studies in Lean Six Sigma process improvement, workflow automation, change management and UX design.

David then moved into specialist legal & technology roles, delivering legal operations and technology programs to industry and government clients including work with leading legal technology providers.

David is a regular contributor to industry bodies including CLOC, ACC, CLI, ALTA & TLF, presenting on topics such as best practice in legal operations & technology, change management, continuous improvement and legal design. 

He is known for his pragmatic and accessible approach to help clients cut through the noise and implement sustainable improvements.
