Suvrajyoti Gupta

Assistant Professor and Assistant Director, Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution

Prof. Gupta is a Assistant Professor at JGLS. He completed his first degree in law from the NUJS, Kolkata in May 2006. Between 2006-2009, he practised as an appellate litigator, primarily based in the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi. During this time he was attached to the Chambers of Ms. Meenakshi Arora, Advocate on Record and Standing Counsel of the Election Commission of India and he worked closely with the Election Commission of India in sensitive matters like the challenge to the Delimitation Act, expulsion of MPs, Office of Profit Bill, among others. He has appeared as a junior counsel, and was connected with all stages of many high profile matters before the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi.

His practice areas included commercial litigation, arbitration, constitutional and criminal law. Between 2009-2010 Mr. Gupta has successfully completed his LL.M. in International Business Law from the National University of Singapore. During his college days Mr. Gupta was one of the student editors of his University’s law Journal Indian Juridical Review. He contributed a number of articles in publications like Indian Bar Review, Journal of Intellectual Property and Criminal Law Journal. His research interests include commercial law, arbitration, international trade law, constitutional and legal regulation of emerging technologies.
